Orion's Federal Division Director presents at the 2022 Federal Design-Build Symposium

Orion's Federal Division Director, Ryan Danielson, recently presented at the 2022 Federal Design-Build Symposium. Ryan achieved his DBIA certification in 2020 and was able to showcase his exemplary knowledge of Design-Build construction on Federal projects at this event. Ryan has been with Orion Construction for over 10 years and is a crucial member of Orion's team that focuses on premier innovation and meaningful collaboration for their Design-Build pursuits.

Orion Construction proudly participated in "Contractors Who Care" event held by the Equity Construction Council of San Diego County. Special thanks to the Black Contractors Association of California for the event space and helping make this such an amazing community event. Orion staff helped hand out backpacks, explained job and apprenticeship opportunities, and even raffled off two BRAND new HP laptops to help get these kids ready for school!

Orion/TC a Joint Venture begins
design and construction with the City of Oceanside

Orion/TC a Joint Venture entered into an agreement with the City of Oceanside to construct the Progressive Design-Build of the Oceanside Mesa Garrison Force Main, El Corazon Lift Station, Mission Ave Lift Station Force Main Replacement, and Land Outfall Replacement. 

This project will provide additional wastewater flow to the San Luis Rey Water Reclamation Facility (SLRWRF) for increased recycled water production. The project consists of 22” to 36” HDPE pipe installed in a mix of residential and cross-country environments, requiring a range of installation techniques. Two major trenchless portions are included–one under Highway 76, and the other under the San Luis Rey River. The Project will also include design and construction of the El Corazon Lift Station located at the former Garrison Elementary School.

The East County Advanced Water Purification Program broke ground on June 1, 2022. Marking the important milestone, Program partners Padre Dam MWD, City of El Cajon, County of San Diego and Helix Water District gathered to celebrate this key milestone on the project that will provide up to 30% of East County’s drinking water supply. Package 2 of this project has been awarded to Orion Construction Corporation. Package 2 includes designing and constructing a 10‐mile Advanced Water Purification pipeline, Dechlorination Facility and inlet to Lake Jennings. Package 4 of this project has also been awarded to Orion Construction Corporation. The Package 4 project will install a Regional Brine Line to convey brine and centrate produced by the advanced water treatment treatment processes from the East Mission Gorge Pump Station to a connection to the City of San Diego South Mission Valley Trunk Sewer. It also will rehabilitate the existing East Mission Gorge Force Main from the East Mission Gorge Pump Station to the City of San Diego North Metro Interceptor and approximately 3,600 linear foot pipeline extension, which will serve as a wet weather/failsafe pipeline, conveying future flows of up to 20 million gallons a day (MGD) (5.5 MGD peak wet weather flow and 14.5 MGD of emergency failsafe flows). 

Orion starts construction with East County Advanced Water Purification

Orion recently installed rooftop solar to its Vista office and upgraded its electric vehicle charging stations. Orion is in the midst of additional interior renovations to increase functionality and reduce energy usage. These projects are part of Orion’s ongoing facility and equipment modernization programs to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.

Orion Wins AGC National Safety Excellence Award

April 2022

Orion’s safety team, led by Jason Danks and Mark Dowsing, recently won the national Construction Safety Excellence Award from the Association of General Contractors. The award’s criteria looked at Orion’s safety metrics, culture, and a presentation in Las Vegas on current and future safety issues and mitigation strategies. In the past 10 years, Orion has won the national award seven times and placed second three times. 

Design-Build Meadowlark Watermain Project Wins American Society of Civil Engineers Outstanding Water Project Award

April 2020

Orion’s recently completed design-build Meadowlark Watermain project wins the 2019 American Society of Civil Engineers Outstanding Water Project Award. Orion teamed with design partner Harris & Associates for this complex project involving numerous stakeholders, including neighborhood groups, businesses, and a hospital.
